Entering should cost what you decided it would cost. These are the controls in your account, and they take effect immediately.
You can set a limit on what you spend in a given period, from your account. It applies the moment you save it. Raising it takes effect after a cooling off period, lowering it takes effect straight away.
Self exclusion closes entry on your account for a minimum of six months and cannot be reversed inside that period, by you or by us. How to self exclude.
Entering more than you planned to. Entering to win back what you spent. Hiding what you spend from people close to you. Entering when you cannot afford it.
None of these are unusual and none of them are a character failing. They are the point at which the tools above are worth using.
